With redistricting and school consolidations becoming a common occurrence in Iowa, the need to merge PTA units has also become a common-day occurrence.

When two or more schools are consolidated, the PTA units of the old schools need to be dissolved and a new unit formed. This process is necessary to comply with state and federal laws governing non-profit organizations and to ensure that funds from the old units are accounted for.

The Iowa PTA has developed a procedure and set of checklists to be used by local units of schools that are being closed or consolidated.
